Biography
Mateus Ward was born in Burbank, California, but raised in Hawaii on Maui, where he lived like a 'local' surfing, snorkeling, hiking, riding motorcycles, wrestling and kayaking. However, his real passions have always been drawing, dancing, piano and acting. His first role was in a live theater production where he played young Elvis. In 2009, his family moved back to Los Angeles, where Mateus pursued acting in Film, Television and Commercials. A natural performer, Mateus had no trouble landing roles quickly, and proved to be a young professional on set. His emotional range, ability to memorize quickly and knack for taking direction, impressed producers and directors. He appeared in several short films, and commercials such as Disney, Activision, Verizon and Old Navy.
His television debut was on "Criminal Minds." Mateus' natural style of acting caught the eye of Director/Producer Larry Charles, and he was cast in the 20th Century Fox Sitcom Pilot "Outnumbered." Mateus has incredible sketch comedy skills, and was was asked to Guest Star on "Sports Show with Norm Macdonald," on Comedy Central, for which he was nominated for a Young Artist Award and won an OMNI Youth Music and Actor Award, Outstanding Actor, in the 12-18 year old category. Mateus has also appeared on NBC's "Parenthood." In 2012, Mateus landed a recurring Guest Star in the Season Finale of Disney XD's "Lab Rats" and the two-part Season Finale of Showtime's "Weeds." In the feature film "Lonely Boy," Mateus Ward plays a schizophrenic boy, which was released in Fall of 2012.
